Amadeus has been collecting records since the mid-’80s. His first purchase was Leroy Burgess’s boogie classic “Sweet Thing,” picked up at Red Records in Brixton. He’s been DJing since the late ’80s, starting out on Cardiff’s first pirate radio station while at university. During his gap year, he headed to Tenerife, where he held a residency at the legendary Soul Train in Playa de las Américas. Back in London, Amadeus ran a series of club nights and promotions across the West End, including Airport 77 and Funk & Disorderly, and went on to play on SW1 Radio. He later organised New Year’s Eve events around Crystal Palace and launched Secret Soul, a late-night lock-in party at the Numidie basement bar. With decades of vinyl collecting, DJing and party promotion behind him, Amadeus brings a deep-rooted passion for soul, funk and boogie, alongside a genuine sense of originality, to every set.
